GREAT Printables

Below is a list of printable coupons that I thought would make a good deal with or without a sale.  Please go to Coupons.com to see all of the printable coupons offered by them plus MORE!:

       Found under zip code 90210:

The Daily Grind...

Just wanted to say I am so sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days.  I had been on 2-weeks "stay-cation" and on Monday, had to return back to the daily grind of things so this week has been kind of "off" for me to say the least.

Between work, other appointments and "mom chores", this week has just flown by!  Not to mention I've been too tired to shop for anything, only using 3 coupons this week and that was forcing myself to just to rid myself of the "checkout guilt" I knew I'd feel if I didn't.  Isn't that terrible?  Checkout guilt.  It really does happen.  If I don't use a coupon...at least one....especially if I KNOW I have it, I feel terrible.  It's as if I am disappointing couponers everywhere!  :)

It's now Sunday and I'm hoping to take some time and get my binder a.k.a "The Beast", back in working order as grocery shopping AND back to school shopping are on the agenda!

Thank You, Coupon Fairy!

Today was one of those days that I ran out of the house without a ::::gasp:::: coupon plan. I was just going to run to Walgreens to do the Cottonelle deal and that was really it for the day.  But then one look in the rearview mirror and I was reminded that I was a tad bit overdue for some (ssssh!) color!

So as I browsed the aisles with a grudge against my hair, I noticed that Revlon Colorsilk was on sale $3.99 each OR 2/$6.00 and with a coupon PLUS the IVC I "could" get them 2/$4.00.   I thought, "UGH, I DO have a coupon for those AT HOME!" and just as I figured one more day wouldn't make that much of a difference, there it was....a coupon for $1.00/2 that was to expire today, tucked neatly in between the boxes on the shelf!  YAY!  (Apparently, SOMEONE thought I needed a dye-job today!)

So anyway, thank you, Coupon Fairy...whoever you are!  I will be sure to "pay it forward" next time I'm out!

***Just a reminder:  If you have excess coupons that you will not use or that are about to expire, go ahead and BE the Coupon Fairy!  It will make you smile inside AND help someone else out...and THAT'S what couponing is about!!!

Philadelphia Cooking Creme: .75 Coupon

Wow, was I excited to see THIS coupon come around!  My family LOVES this stuff!  SO easy to prepare a meal with it on a rushed night.  Or any night for that matter!  Our favorite is the Savory Garlic (but they are all great!).

I like to take chicken breast, pounded out and cut into chunks and cooked just until done in a little olive oil and add to it one tub of the Philly Cooking Creme and some tri flavored penne pasta (some frozen corn or peas is great to add to if you want to stretch it even further).  Throw in some garlic bread and a salad...you've got yourself a delicious, no sweat meal!

Back to School Breakfast Idea

As some of you can probably relate, the kids will be going back to school very soon and if your household is like mine...rushed in the morning, getting your child(ren) to eat a healthy (depending on choice of ingredients) breakfast, especially teenagers, can often be a stress inducing event! I personally do not think a pop-tart should be considered a healthy, brain feeding breakfast, again, that is just my opinion.  Don't get me wrong though, I HAVE been guilty of shoving one in my teenagers hand on the way out the door myself...it IS better than nothing at all...I suppose.

Anyway, for breakfast I often make breakfast burritos.  A food he LOVES.  Also, In the process I found out that not only are they pretty inexpensive (depending upon brand and quantity of ingredients used, these come out to around .75 cents each, give or take) to prepare a big batch, taste great and are a healthier, more satisfiying choice BUT they freeze very well.

Here's how I do it (you can decide how much of each item you will need based on family size):

Click here -->  For another burrito recipe from Ziploc!

EASY BREAKFAST BURRITOS

  • Eggs
  • Green Onion, snipped (optional)
  • Green Pepper, diced (optional BUT provides great flavor)
  • Salsa (chunky is good)
  • Sausage Crumbles (I use Jimmy Dean)
  • Shredded Cheese, small handful or to your liking (I like the taco flavored)
  • Burrito Sized Tortilla Shells
  • Saran Wrap, Zip Lock Baggies or Freezer containers
Now, this is a very flexible recipe.  Keep in mind that the sausage does "up" the cost a bit BUT we really enjoy these and using a coupon (if available) lessens the blow.  You can use any type of sausage crumbled, I'm sure.  This is just our preference.  You can also add refried or black beans (rinsed) if you want to stretch this even further.

If your child hates onion OR green pepper or just doesn't like the chunky texture like mine...get sneaky creative and use an electric chopper (a MUST have in my house) to chop them down so they are hardly noticeable but you still get flavor and nutrional value!

Ok, moving on:

  1. Place small amount of butter in pan, add sausage if using, heat for a couple minutes
  2. Add onions, peppers, etc.  cook till softened
  3. Add any seasonings now if you'd like - I will usually toss in a little chili seasoning or garlic powder (optional)
  4. Add about 1 good tablespoon of salsa
  5. Then add eggs and scramble.  When they are about 3/4 of the way done. Add cheese and put lid on. In my opinion this helps melt the cheese and provides some moisture to the eggs
  6. Once cheese is melted, remove from heat
  7. Fill each burrito shell with about 2 tablespoons or so of mixture.  It may not look like alot but it is.
  8. Roll burrito style and wrap in saran wrap
  9. Freeze.
  10. To reheat, you may have to play with this one as microwaves do vary but I just take it out of wrap, Place in slightly moist (wrung out) paper towel (to prevent drying) put on defrost for about 2 minutes, check it then heat for about a minute and a half or so, i like to flip it once for even heating.
Freezer options:  You can "flash freeze" them by placing on a cookie sheet, unwrapped and freezing till they just start to harden then placing in a zip-lock bag (they won't stick together if done this way), or by placing in a freezer container, depending on size could hold 4-6 side by side nicely.

Note:  I'm not sure I would add potatoes initially due to the water content.  I've read that this may make them soggy after defrosting and/or leave coldspots.  I've not tried them yet myself.

This a "mobile" breakfast too which unfortunately is a neccesity at times.

Enjoy!

Calm The Chaos: A Price Matching Tip

Wal-mart Price Match Guarantee

I absolutely love to price match at Wal-Mart.  Why? Well, it's simple, they carry almost everything I need and I can't always justify running around to 3 different stores burning gas (and money) when I know I can just get it all in one place with some proper planning.

What's even nicer is WM no longer requires you to have the competitors ad in hand like they used to.  HOWEVER, I always try to keep it with me just in case.  I have been pretty lucky myself having not had any issues to speak of while price matching at Wal-Mart (knock wood).  Perhaps the way I go about it has something to do with that...I like to think so.  This is how I go about price matching.  Please keep in mind, what works for me, may or may not work for you.

  • ALWAYS let the cashier know AHEAD of time you will be price matching.  If you wait till the end, it might be a fiasco.  It might even be too late.
  • Try to keep the items you are price matching together.  This is hard for me sometimes because I am somewhat OCD when it comes to how I put things on the conveyor belt.  I like cold with cold, bread with bread, meat with meat, etc.  The tip I am about to share came to be because of this by the way.
  • I do price matching before my coupons. I need total concentration while they scan them.  I don't want to be preoccupied with making sure I didn't miss something.
  • Okay, here is my tip.  I can't say it is an original idea as I did come across it some time ago online somewhere while looking up coupon organization tips.  What I do is:  At home, while putting my plan of action together, I write on a sticky note (the small ones are great for this!)  and without pulling it off the tablet,  the amount of the price match with the store name or abbreviation of the store name and any restrictions there may be (i.e., limit 2, 12 oz or larger size, etc.)
  • As I go through the store with my list in hand (which has items marked with a "PM" for price match notated next to it if applicable), I put the item in my cart, check it off my list and slap the sticky note that applies right on the item.
Sure, I have gotten some funny looks from people BUT who cares.  Not I says the couponer.

Most cashier's will usually appreciate this.  In my experience, it makes things SO much easier               for  them.  It's price matching "at a glance".  No fumbling through 5 different ads, no scouring over shopping lists.  No trying to decipher notes written in a rush while running out the door.
 But best of all....

            No Chaos.

Works for me, I hope it works for you!!!

Please...let me know how it goes OR if you have a tip to share by commenting here OR sending me an e-mail!

Target: Dove Deodorant on Clearance

When I go to Target, it has become a natural instinct to just make a bee-line for the end caps...the special place where alot of the marked down items reside.  I love this place.  Almost feels like Christmas morning!!

Today I found these little beauties:  The twin pack of Dove Deodorant AND Body Spray marked down to $2.78!!!  Match that up with the $.75 off MFR Q that was in the 6/26 RP and you've got yourself an awesome deal at $2.03 or $1.01 for each product!!!

Last time I checked these items on their own were over $3.00 each!

CVS CLEARANCE ITEMS with pictures!

While perusing the aisles at CVS this morning I came across some pretty decent clearance deals.  I don't believe there are ECB's tied to any of these currently but even still...a good find, IMO.

First up:  Dove Damage Therapy Shampoo:  Marked down 75% as you can see! Down to $1.49 and to make that even better, there was a MFR's Q in the 6/26 RP for .75 (exp. 7/24)- so, final price = .74 ea. WOW!    Need to double check in the morning on this.  JUST realized the products in picture are NOT what is on the tag!  They are misplaced.   Will update with CORRECT product tomorrow! Can't believe I didn't notice it while IN the store!

Second up:  Pantene Curly Hairspray:  Marked down 50%.  Down to $2.49. There was a  $3.00/2 MFR's Q in the 6/19 SS.  So that would be $1.98 for 2 OR .99 each!! (I don't believe this is part of the ECB deal though, so be careful!) - Rumor has it that the "coupon printer machine thingie" is also spitting out $2.00 off shampoo Q's - so THIS could be FREE!!!

And last but not least:  Aussie Sprunch:  Marked down 50%. Down to $2.49.  There was a $1.00 off 1 MFR Q in the 6/12 RP. So that would be $1.49 per bottle.  Not bad.  I love the way this stuff smells!

Hy-Vee NOWWOW for 7/21 Only

Hy-Vee  will be offering 1 FREE Gatorade 8 Pack with purchases of $25.00 or more on 7/21/11 from Noon-8:00 p.m.  Limit 1.

Voskos Greek Yogurt: 2 Ways to Save!

If you've never had Greek Yogurt, now would be the time to try it!  In my opinion, it is thicker and creamier than regular yogurt.  You feel more like you are eating dessert rather than something healthy!  Not to mention it is more satisfying!!!

Get your printable coupon here - using zip code 80020:   Voskos Greek Yogurt .75 off 1
(it does say "Redeem at King Soopers" - not "only at")

OR

My Target Trip: .48 OOP

Today was the first time I'd shopped at Target in a very long time (I know, I know...how terrible). So I started off very small.  Not to mention it was 8:01 a.m. when I stepped foot in the store and hadn't had but two sips of coffee!

Not a major haul but a great confidence builder, especially if you are new to couponing.

Here's what I got:

1 Bengay (4.24)
1 Scotch Tape (.50)
1 Papermate 2 Pk. of NICE pens (1.49)

Here's what I used:

1 1.00 any Papermate Writing Utensil Target Q

Total OOP = $.48 <----only because I upgraded on the pens!

Go here to get yours today...says it takes 12 weeks...I'm hoping I find a deal before then!

When A Sale Is Not A Sale...

One thing you have to be leery of while (savvy) shopping is misleading marketing.  Just because an item is in a weekly ad does NOT mean it is "on sale" nor does it guarantee a great deal.  It does not necessarily mean that NOW is the time to stock up...For example:  A local store of mine consistently advertises Knorr's Pasta & Sides at a "GREAT" sale price of $1.00.  Perhaps it is...for this store.  However, I KNOW, from being a conscientious shopper, that Wal-Mart carries this same exact product at that same price EVERY day (at least they have been)! I also know that with coupons, I can get them usually for .50 or LESS if I time it right...FREE if my store doubles coupons!

Conclusion:  I personally, always buy it at Wal-Mart because that is where I normally shop and where I do price-matching on other sale items.  This saves me a trip or two around town which in turn, saves me gas!

So it really does pay to do your homework here.  I will usually browse at other items while doing my normal shopping all the while making mental notes or jotting down prices of things I normally buy so I know if I'm getting a good deal or not.

Some shoppers actually go as far as utilizing a "PRICE BOOK" so they know EXACTLY when to stock up on an item. The  price point referred to as the "rock bottom" price is the price you want to shoot for when stocking up.   I, myself, have not yet gotten to that level of organization where I am utilizing the price book- not sure I ever will.  But either way, I can still usually tell when...

a SALE is NOT a SALE...and you should too!

This first one is from the BENGAY website and I was able to print 2.  Not sure if there are any current sales going on for this one but even still, it's approximately $8.00 normally (this will vary from store to store) so even still....a pretty good deal!
This is how it reads:   Save $5.00 on ONE (1) BENGAY Cold Therapy Product (Expiration 8/17/11)

The next one is from Coupons.com and it is also a $5.00 off  BUT this one is even more enticing because you could have alot more options....a FREEBIE (with overage) at Wal-Mart I'm sure!  Print limit is also 2. Oh, and I used zip code:  77347

It reads:  Save $5.00 off ONE (1) BENGAY product (exc. trial size) (Expiration 9/15/11)

Target Text Alerts: Coupons on the Go!

If you haven't signed up for TARGET'S MOBILE COUPONS yet, you are missing out!  I love this! So far, I've not been disappointed with what's been sent.  They send them up to 5 times per month and usually there are about 10 coupons to choose from.

You simply show your phone to the cashier and they can scan - YES, scan - the barcode or if there's a problem, the instructions are right there to show them how to manually enter!  E-A-S-Y!!

They only down side here is that you can only use it once per transaction (at least that is my understanding. Never tried any other way).  I still love it though!

Try it out! You can stop them at anytime.  But I promise, you won't.

The Picture People: $18

The Picture People is offering what I consider to be a pretty good deal right now.

$18.00 (Big Bundle Package which includes 25 photos of your favorite pose) isn't too shabby a price to capture your family and most cherished moments on film.

Offer expires 7/31/11

Mind Your Own Cart, Lady...

Each and EVERY time I go to the grocery store be it Wal-Mart, CVS, Target, even my local gas station I find myself doing something that I am convinced probably is NOT quite the "norm".  Unless of course you are a "couponer".
I think.

It's inevitable that while you are waiting in line you look around.  You look at the shelves closet to you for the next great chocolatey snack you could devour, perhaps you browse through the latest trash mag, you wonder WHY there's only ONE checkout line open with 20 available, but mostly, you probably just "people watch", right?  Well, I find myself looking in other peoples carts.  Yep.  I can't help but scan them and wonder "do I have a coupon for that?" "Hmmm...I wonder, if they have any clue how much money they COULD be saving".  I wonder if they care.

I have on occasion struck up a conversation by saying "Excuse me, are you aware that store X has this on sale right now and you CAN price match?" (in my most excited "I'm a couponer" tone of voice).  It's funny the looks I get.  They are usually quite thankful though which leads to me referring them to one or two of my favorite sites (haven't had the opportunity yet to mention my own).

Overall, the exchange is short and sweet, friendly even.  Although there have been one or two times where I was blatantly ignored or got the "Mind your own cart, Lady" look.

My husband gets a kick out of it when he watches me during these exchanges...he says "you just can't help yourself, can you?"

Nope.  I guess I can't.

And I'm okay with that.

BZZAGENT! Try New Products and Share Your Opinion

BZZAGENT is a social marketing program where you sign up to bee an agent (sorry, couldn't resist!), they send you BRAND name products to try, you login and post your opinions.  The good, the bad and the ugly if necessary.

I myself HAVE done this in the past.  It's pretty awesome actually.  You just have to be quick to get in on the campaigns offered to you...they go QUICK!

Another BIG perk with this is when you receive the products...you're objective is to create a "buzz" (think word-of-mouth) so they usually send you coupons to share as well.

Go for it, you've got nothing to lose!

OH and I almost forgot....BZZAGENT is also tied to MYPOINTS sooooo anything you do, you get points credited to your account! I just got 3 for a 1 minute multiple choice survey! EASY!!!

Hurry up and buzz on over!  :)

REDBOX: Text Club

If you're like me, I despise going to the movies much anymore.  It is simply WAY too expensive!  Two drinks cost just about as much as admission!  I mean, yeah, I like to go every now and again as a treat but in order to keep up with the latest movies, REDBOX is my choice!

What makes the $1.10 a night deal even sweeter is that if you join the REDBOX TEXT CLUB you will receive a FREE movie code the first Monday of every month!

Now if only they offered a coupon for free popcorn....hmmm.

Benadryl: Great Deal!

In case you missed the $2.00 printable that seems to have come and gone (quick!) - Here's another way to obtain Benadryl.  This is definitely the right time to have some on hand!!

June 19th Redplum also had a $2.00 off the purchase of a topical product with an expiration date of 12/31/12

Wal-mart and Target carry these for approximately $2.29 each (this may vary slightly)
So we are talking approximately $.29 for itch relief!! WOW!!!

GREAT DEAL!
